Revised Release: Galleria and The Underground Move to New North Hall in Javits Center

02/08/2011

Norwalk, CT (February 8, 2011) – Organizers of International Vision Expo & Conference East (Conference: Wednesday, March 16 – Sunday, March 20, Exhibition: Friday, March 18– Sunday, March 20) in New York City, announced that two of the show’s key features, Galleria and The Underground, will relocate to the Javits Center’s exciting NEW North Hall. The NEW North Hall is located closest to West 39th Street, and convenient for the shuttle bus and taxi drop offs.

The North Hall is large, bright and column free, offering a boutique-like setting in which customers can see the latest eyewear fashion trends and the work of new designers all in a one-stop-shopping experience. Recently completed as part of a four-year Javits Center renovation project, The North Hall includes state-of-the-art upgrades and installation of the largest green roof in the Northeast.

“The atmosphere in The North Hall is stimulating and inviting,” said Val Scott, Reed Exhibitions’ Vice President of Strategic Accounts. “The open floor plan and white walls create an energetic vibe of creative design and décor and is a refreshing change for Galleria and The Underground exhibitors, as well as for the buyers attending the event.”

The collocation of the Galleria and The Underground in The North Hall will also enhance the buying experience. “Having all of the high-end frame buyers converging on one location to browse, network and place orders is a positive for exhibitors in these pavilions,” noted Scott.

Many of the Galleria and The Underground exhibitors have also expressed their excitement with the move.  “I am extremely pleased with the relocation of the Galleria. The new North Hall offers a clean, contemporary space with an energetic vibe.  It truly captures the DNA of our brands,” said Alessandro Lanaro, President & CEO of Modo.

“Bringing the Galleria and The Underground together in this new modern environment makes it the ultimate destination for our buyers,” added Ray Khalil, President, LaFont. “This move is certainly a step forward and will allow us to deliver an energizing experience for everyone participating at Vision Expo.”
